Well, there's another premiership we DIDN'T win!

Add to Memories Share

There's always next season. Or the one after that. I give in.

Kids are safely in bed. The Internet Free Zone is cruising around the northern suburbs of Wollongong doing work till late.

I've been playing with my new mobile phone (we each got one), and I have two really cool songs as ringtones:

* 1985 by Bowling for Soup
* Black Betty (cover version) by Spiderbait. And the same Spiderbait have also done a cover of the Run theme from The Goodies! Interesting to watch. I'm not saying it's brilliant though.

Those songs are abount the only two I've been interested in during the last year or so. But I'm getting back into listening circulation. Luckily the new car has a great aerial and I can pick up 2MMM 2 1/2 hrs away! :)

They're replacing the CDMA mobile network with a new NextG network, which is still reasonably shitty coverage where I live. But YAY for a new mobile phone where I can have ringtones! Had some major issues getting the photos/phonebooks of our phones transferred across.

We have a new budgie. His name is Tommy DooDoo. I didn't name him.

My Pop passed away 2 weeks ago. He was 80, and had blocked arteries and a perforated bowel. All the hospital was able to do was make him comfortable. Nana is 87 and coping, but I'm awfully worried about her.

In the meantime, my parents are drinking margaritas somewhere on a cruise ship on the Mexican Riviera.

Go Daggys!

Add to Memories Share

I love it when 2 year old Scuba is able to recgonise when Aaron Gorrell has kicked a goal! I didn't even have to point it out to him!

Scuba called the Dragons "Daggys" a couple of months back when we were watching a game, the nickname has stuck, so I find myself screaming GO DAGGYS at the TV screen! Oh yeah, and they beat Brisbane.

The usual amount of slackness in my entries has resurfaced. Notable occurrences since my last entry:

We traded in our Berlina Wagon for a Toyota Avensis 2 weeks ago. Got as best a trade in as we could hope for I guess. "Harry" was $4K off RRP and he's a lovely shade of blue, despite being the most unimaginatively named car I've ever owned. (Rooster named it after Harry Potter). He's a 7 seater, but I have no intention of permanently filling any further seats.

I've won a 5 night holiday to Hamilton Island, the Internet Free Zone will have to be nice to me if he wants to come with me! It's worth $6.3K so I'm pretty impressed!

Roosters' Soccer season has ended. We've discovered that his talent is goalkeeping, especially when mommy is screaming "there's the ball! there's the ball" behind the net. Now comes the Little Athletics season. One cannot run in sandals!

My brother M is back from his beer drinking trip to the UK.

Nothing else to report other than that my feet and numb and I'm going to bed!

Mogo

Add to Memories Share
The Family Birthday Festival celebrations started this past Long Weekend with a family trip down to Mogo. To the Old Mogo Town (where they have some nice cabins at a reasonable price, considering it's the only accommodation in Mogo!) and Mogo Zoo as well.

Almost rained out, but luckily the rain cleared 1/2 way through the weekend. The Monkeys @ the Zoo rock.

In other news, we're still looking for a new car. I'm at the stage where I can now tell variants of different models from small differences such as grilles etc. Can't decide, and I believe I've got information overload. May even keep the Berlina. At least it's a known quantity. Plus it has an awesome Hawaii sticker on the back window!

Speaking of the USA, received an order from USA Foods last week. Choc Chip Cookie Dough Pop Tarts. Guess what I'm having for brekkie on my b'day!

8-1

One of the weirdest footy scores I've ever seen.

I can't bear to wait the extra hour to find out the score of a Friday Night game. So I've been keeping track of the Dragons-Eels game on www.nrl.com.

It was 0-0 at 1/2 time.

It was 0-0 after 60 mins.

Parra scored after 70 mins. A field goal. 1-0.

Then came our onslaught of points. FG, FG, Try (in the 80th minute!) and conversion.

I love it when we win! And it's good to win on a Friday night, 'cos then I'm sure to have a good weekend!

My 5 favourite TV shows currently showing:

Add to Memories Share
1) Scrubs: Curse you Channel 7 for showing this at a ridiculously late hour. Thank goodness for the trusty VCR. It's sad that this is one of the last truly funny sitcoms. Reality TV has killed the genre.

2) Boston Legal: See 1) Plus .... DENNY CRANE!

3) Family Guy. Yeah, I know it's a cartoon, but it's bloody funny. especially the episode where Peter griffin creates the Church of the Fonz, and makes reference to the lost Cunningham brother Chuck who went upstairs in Season 1 and never came back..... and also see 1)

4) Spicks and Specks: Awesomely funny and not pretentious.

5) Ned & Stacey: Sure, it's in repeats weekly on cable (that counts!) but Thomas Haden Church is brilliant. It also has a bearable Debra Messing (who thought it possible!)

Like the nacky IKEA cupboard we came across at Rosebery yesterday!!!!!

I've been looking for one for Roosters' bedroom, it's the only bedroom without a built-in. I tortured the InternetFreeZone and told him we were going to go buy a cupboard there, but I actually meant one in boxes that could be tied to the roof racks (used once in 3.5 yrs! Yes, that was our last IKEA trip)

Anyhoo, got there, and the Rosebery store is (was) closing down it's furniture department. Most everything had been scavenged by Eastern Suburbs yuppies in their BMW X5's and Range Rovers. Said yuppies apparently aren't impressed they'll have to cross go west of Balmain to go to a proper IKEA now.

We came across the right size cupboard, the only difference is it didn't have the doors I wanted. But it was $402 reduced to $352 (not bad) then 40% off that! $211.20!!!

Only thing was putting it in the wagon, which was already full of suitcases. So unpacked and repacked the Wagon. This car doesn't have a name. Not like it's predecessors. But it holds a lot of stuff.

We went up to Sydney for the weekend to see M off on his trip to the UK. Bought the obligatory box of Krispy Kreme's @ the Departures Food Court. Ate none! :) But found BBQ Pork Buns ($3 each) and Prawn Dumplings ($6.80 for a plate of 4). Compare that to $1.50 a Yum Cha serve when we were in Hawaii. Bastards!

Spent time looking for a new car as well. The Wagon is due to be replaced when the lease is up. Deciding between a Toyota Avensis or a Honda Odyssey.

We also stopped at Chili's @ Fairy Meadow on the way time for Buffalo Wings! Yay Buffalo Wings!

Correction to Soccer Score.

Add to Memories Share
I was mistaken when I said that Roosters' soccer side lost 5-4 the week before last.

They actually won 5-3! Although they had a couple of substitute players from the "W" side who socred most of the goals.

Anyhow, last weeked the "C" side were 0-0 with their opposition at 1/2 time, but tired to lose 3-0 by the end. They were all exhausted. Except for Rooster of course. No aeroplanes this week thankfully, he actually kept up with the play though. Kicked the ball twice too!

My brother M is heading o/s to the UK this Sunday. As a matter of interest on Mothers' Day a couple of weeks ago, I asked the usual "You've got your passport" question. He said no. I was stunned, but not surprised.

In fact, it went missing for 3-4 days and finally turned up at my parents house today.

I do envy him though. 34, cashed up after selling his house (he just broke up with his long term GF, she got custody of the dogs) and heading off to the UK for 3 months. I'll turn green with envy if he attends a Madness concert!

Ten things starting with "C"

Add to Memories Share
Someone from the past has challenged me to think of 10 things starting with "C", so here goes...

Children - Obvious choice. Rooster is 5 and Scuba is 2 next month. And it appears that both have my sense of humour.

Callala Bay - where we've lived for 2.5 years. A nice little spot, 25 minutes from Nowra, depending on who is driving :) Quiet most of the year, however during Terrorist season over Xmas/Easter you can wait 4 hours to get a pizza from the local!

Credit Systems - The department where I used to work as a Business Analyst. It's been almost 5 years since I left. Worked in a great team where we provided one of the few software solutions that was not outsourced during the implementation of a major billing system. Under promised and over delivered. I miss it muchly, but life moves on.

Chocolate - yum. reminds me of a bet I had when I was 19 and still had braces. I swore I'd go off chocolate, including my fave choc chip cookies that have massive chunks, for one year. The cookies kept breaking mr wires. I won the bet. The prize? A damn Happy Meal!

Cooking - something that I seem to have developed a knack for. It may seems strange, but I view a recipe as a specification. Just the residual BA in me.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream - The best ice cream ever created. Available from Baskin Robbins here in Oz, but I always hunt down the Ben & Jerry's variety when I'm in the USA. At home I do make the dough for baking, but somehow it never gets baked!

Chrysler Neon - The best car ever ever made. Owned one just after I got married and got a promotion in May 98 until we moved south (sold it Feb 2003), and it proved too small to cart kids business stuff. Batmobile Mk3 now resides in Ulladulla and belongs to a lady who owns a Thai restaurant down there. And yes, I visit it when I'm in the neighbourhood. A picture of it is also my mobile wallpaper. Terribly sad.

C***** - my maiden name. Not sorry to lose it. Like being a P****** much better. Seriously, I feel that I became a different persona when I assumed my married name. My old self was the nerd who had a dreadful time at High School,

Colin Firth - I'm not much into drooling, but he's droolworthy.

Career - a burgeoning career as a BA cut short. Had to choose between dealing with toddlers or staying at home with my son. Was given the choice of F/T or resign when I returned from Mat Leave. Amazingly, 3 months after I resigned we moved south. Things happen for a reason.

and I just thought of an 11th.

Chas Smash - The trumpet player from, and my fave member of, Madness. The person who challenged me to my C list bought me my first ever Madness CD, and for that I thank him.

They finally scored a goal!!! 4 even!

Add to Memories Share
Wacky Doo! Roosters' soccer team finally scored a goal on the weekend. 4 actually!

They still lost 5-4, but it was their best game so far. I wasn't there, I was working. (At least we sold 3 Vacuum Cleaners before 1pm!) The InternetFreeZone (my husband) took Rooster and wrangled Scuba at the game. Our business is going to sponsor their jerseys so at least when they're losing they'll look good!

Mothers Day. Started on Saturday for me. As I knew any time spent at my parents' house would mean a cessation in festivities. Not just because it was the first Mothers' Day for Darylette's mummy. I think my mum is trying to be a matriarch and failing miserably.

Rooster chose a necklace for me for my present, wrapped in a towel that had been warmed for me during my shower. he almost gave the game away when we were shopping in town the other night. I sure hope he never plays Poker.

I did score Legally Blonde and it's sequel, also Romy & Michelle's HS Reunion, on DVD, but I chose them.

I'm still puzzled as to why someone would organise a kids b'day party on Mothers Day. At least it gave me an excuse to come "home" from up the coast early. Anyhoo, let the kids run around a play centre like looneys for 3 hours, then home for a quiet arvo, then watched Grosse Pointe Blank on DVD. It makes my Top 5 fave DVD's ever. Nothing like sitting back watching a Romantic Action Black Comedy.

My other 4: The Blues Brothers, Beetlejuice (who would have guessed!), Ferris Buellers Day Off. and the DVD from Roosters Kindy where they do an "adventure" on a green screen. They were searching for treasure. He found it in his nose about a minute before everyone else.

Anyone who had known me fairly well over the last few years knows how horribly well organised I am.

My pantry is resplendent in Tupperware. I have hooks on my garage wall to hang my outdoor chair cushions and laundry trolley, I have 3 noticeboards around the house with notes etc to keep me organised.

Then there's the Excel spreadsheet on the pantry with my week-by-week committments. the list that gets refreshed every 3 months of all the little bit of renovatingy bits that still need to be done.

The second last project were the funky new cupboard from IKEA in my laundry.

And now I have a naff new rubbish bin that is tucked away in my cupboard under my kitchen sink!

Sure, it seems a bit anal, however, with the distinct lack of time I have I need life to be organised!
